Hey there everyone! Great news from the H+D homefront! We are so excited to share what we've been working on! We've got a new look and a NEW BLOG! :) We will no longer be updating from www.handdphoto.blogspot.com and will begin posting at www.handdphoto.com/blog starting today! Isn't it cute!? Sweet little Jacob was just at two weeks when we photographed his cute little self. I couldn't believe how he slept through every position we put him in! I love newborns! :)

His daddy is a fireman here in Augusta, so we borrowed his helmet for our session. Doesn't he look like he's so comfy? :) Love this kid already...

And lastly, I couldn't resist posting Jacob's sweet little curls...It's one of favorites of this little guy! Can't wait to get to know him as he gets bigger! :)

Okay people! Favorite image ever! Isn't this just too adorable!!!??

Marci and Kevin (and Balou!) came all the way from Oklahoma for a session with us...well...and for his job...haha...But mainly for us ;)...Since they were married in a small ceremony a few months ago, Marci decided to do some newlywed photos with us to document their new little family before they headed back home!

Despite the awful humidity, these three were champs! I think Balou really likes the Georgia heat, so much so that he wallowed in the wet grass to let us know! Ha! He's still so cute though, even wet!

Kevin and Marci were so laid back, they let me try whatever I wanted. I love this next shot with her LOVE necklace... :)

Little Ana Sofi has graced the blog many times in her young little life! (HERE - HERE - and HERE!) She just so happens to be some of our best friends little one. I can't believe that she's already 7 months old! It's just crazy that she's growing up so fast! This little girl has had my heart from the start...

Althought she has a beautiful smile, she has the most intense look when she's trying to figure out what you're doing...Those eyes are incredible huh??

She's the most beautiful little thing...Those bottom teeth kill me...

We will do all sorts of weird things to entrance a baby...

And finally...Ana Sofi hanging out with our baby Scout :) It just steals my heart EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Gah! I love them!

for the love of a party band...

We've had a few A-MAZ-ING party bands at our weddings recently! I'm talking the best we've ever seen - and we see ALOT of bands. Alot of so-so bands, some terrible, but it's pretty rare for a band to be REALLY great.

First up - Palmetto Groove Party Band. This band was incredible! They had a great set for Brooke + Ryan's wedding complete with old classics and newer hits... (Don't judge a book by it's cover either, their website isn't the best, but TRUST ME, they are an awesome band!)

The second band is called Excite! The Party Band! This band ROCKED Anna+Justin's wedding a couple of weeks ago! They even dealt with a really big snag in the middle of the party with grace! We loved them and since the party went well past midnight, I'd say the wedding guests agreed! :)

Just thought we'd feature a few of the vendors that work with us along the way! :) And besides, everyone who knows us, knows we love a good party! :)

So here's an update for all you who have been waiting on the edge of your seats to see what we have accomplished on our 101 in 1001 list lately! (We know you are dying to know? What? You're not? Oh well, you will have to endure it anyway!)

#5 - Get an iPhone. Internet, you have no idea how long I've been waiting for my very own iPhone! It bordered on obsessive, but I was finally able to save up and convince the D in this house to let me get one! :) And it's amazing. Including my beautiful Kate Spade case.

#93 - Buy an original piece of art. For those who don't know, one of my very best friends just so happens to be an amazing artist. Her name is Mandie Aberra (I've blogged about her before, and you can link to her site via the ad at the bottom of this page!) She custom painted me two beautiful canvas' for our living room update that has yet to be shared. Just take a look at this awesomeness...

#23 - Grow my own tomatoes (AND jalepenos!). This has been quite an experience! But I just can't wait for them to be ready to eat!

This next one isn't on the list, it should have been though and it's worth sharing! Today we painted our front door this lovely shade of blue...yummy huh?

Lastly #96. Does anyone remember this guessing game played on facebook! People guessed everything down to an Ompa Loompa. Seriously, my facebook friends are crazy ya'll! So here's the big reveal!

It's a DISHWASHER! And it's beautiful!!! For all those who know Daryl and I, you know that we hate to wash dishes. We went from having a dishwasher to handwashing for over a year, and now we finally have our Anniversary dishwasher as we like to call it...It was a nightmare getting it here and installed since we didn't have one before in this house, but we finally got it worked out and couldn't be more thrilled with the extra time it gives us!

Thanks for bearing with us with through all that! Whew! More beautiful sessions to come! :)

Heather and Jonny have got to be the sweetest thing since pure honey when they are together! I love it when a couple is comfy with each other and get confidence from each other - it's a rare thing, but some people find it! Here's a sneak peak of their e-session last week...

So sweet right??! That golden light kills me...I love it! (Not to mention the beautiful people in that beautiful light!)

Anna + Justin wed almost a month ago now and we are so excited to finally be able to share these photographs with everyone! :) These are just a few of our favorites...

Isn't she gorgeous?? It kills me how pretty she is...

Sometimes we shoot kooky things...like groomsmen through bushes! We just love that light...

Anna and Justin were the picture of grace as their reception was almost cancelled when a friend of the family suddenly fell ill and the paramedics had to come in. But at his request, the party was to go on! And boy, did it! These people can throw a party! The band was incredible and really brought it back after that little mishap!

For Brooke and Ryan, the wait is over! They've been planning their wedding for almost 3 years. Now they have exactly what they wanted: each other! We had an fantastic time capturing these moments and we wish you all the best!

Ryan served overseas as a Marine while Brooke attended nursing school where she recently graduated. All the while they carefully planned their big day. Brooke was so easy-going and Ryan was so excited that it made taking pictures of them so easy and fun!

When Mandy wants something she gets it. That's what we've learned about this girl! You may remember her from her engagement session with this beautiful classic car...She was looking for a vintage couch for her bridal session and found one (of course) just in time...

She made such a beautiful bride!

Mandy's fiance, Rushton, is a fireman, so Mandy wanted some of her bridal shots to include the firetruck and Rushton's boots and helmet. After all her work and planning with the Chief of the fire station, Rushton still ended up working the day of our shoot. So Mandy and the chief came up with a story to keep Rushton away from the firetrucks so that we could quickly do the shots with the truck without him knowing! And it worked! At thier wedding this weekend, when Rushton saw her bridal portraits with the truck, he admitted he had no idea of what she had planned for him! He loved it! It doesn't hurt that she is working those boots too!

There really aren't words to describe the love I have for this little family. Not only are these kids the cutest thing on the planet, but their mom happens to be my best friend from high school :). Christy + Jon are so in love and it just spills over into their relationship with their kids and makes for wonderful photographs! So without further ado...

This is one of the twins - Arianna. It took her a few minutes to warm up to me taking pictures, but you will see that by the end of the session, she was cheesing with the best of them! :)

1. Kendi Everyday - This website/blog is one of my favorites as regards all things fashion...love love love it...She has a quirky sense of humor which I adore...she also has a blog about all things newlyweds which is hilarious...

2. Tracy Anderson - This girl has rocked my workout world - granted: I've only do her workouts a few days so far, but thats because I can hardly walk, or breathe the next day. She is Gwenyth Paltow's personal trainer and she's awesome...AND if you're cheap like me, you can get her workouts for FREE on YouTube. Google that...

3. Valspar Pumpkin Squash Paint - The color we just painted the wall behind our fireplace! Ahh! So excited to share coming up later this week! :)

4. Mandie Aberra Portrait Art - This amazing painting was painted FOR ME by this amazing artist. Her studio in downtown Marietta is doing amazing and she has even started teaching classes! I may be biased because she is one of my closest friends and I love her! But all the same, she is amazing!

5. DIY Log Table - I just procured two lovely oak logs today to dry out to create my own bedside tables! It's kind of a long process but I'm up for it and I will be sure to document this for you two months from now when its done! :)

6. And Then She Saved - This blog changed my thinking about budgeting and paying off debts. This girl went on a Spending Fast for a year and paid off $17,000 in debt! Crazy! And she's got some pretty interesting ideas on spending, saving, and making sense of your finances! (She takes alot from other famous financiers like Dave Ramsey, Suze Orman and the likes...)

7. One Year to the Organized Life - Ok - so I adore this book. It's a step-by-step, week-by-week if you will about how to get get yourself and your house organized. I like it because although the name sounds daunting, you can just take from it what you want and leave the rest.

8. I'd Rather Be Thrifting - I adore this poster by Ashley G. on Etsy.com. I love finding things at antique stores and flea markets - it's my favorite things...just come to my house and you shall see! :)

9. The Sak Handbang - I recently purchased this AMAZING bag a la TJMAXX and I'm in love with it. It's got the perfect amount of pockets and stands up perfectly.

10. My Library Card (Georgia Pines Library) - I reactivated my library card this month and I have checked out a TON of books so far. I had completely forgotten that I can get books for free and then they don't clutter up my house since I can return them! Awesome...

Our amazing friends, Don and Julie, surprised us with tickets to see Brian Regan here in Augusta last weekend and an extra amazing date night! They said they wanted to help me complete my 101 in 1001 list but checking this one of for me! It was awesome! The four of us laughed until we cried... He is one of the few comedians out there that doesn't use offensive language to sell his humor. If you've never heard of him (Which I doubt), here's a clip of one of his best known routines...

Last night, being snowed in and all, I put on my figurative "gold pants" and got crafty! I decided to make a pillow with some extra materials I had lying around - and boy, was it a blast! Just ask Daryl! After ~~cursing~~ yelling at my sewing machine (because of its lack of do-it-yourself initiative!), I finally got to working on my latest creation! (drum roll please...)

Don't you just love those little rosettes? I love them! Favorite craft project this year! ;)

We are beyond excited for a snow day here in Georgia! It's crazy how excited we get over a few inches of snow (mostly ice!)! But we are so excited none the less! Sorry for the lack of posting here over the last month - it's been busy busy around here! We are in the process of updating our site and revamping our packaging. We are thankfully using this snow day for good things today - hot chocolate, snuggles, and blogging! :) And because a post is always better with a picture - here is my baby enjoying the snow (from last year, but still!)

Whitney + Deanna are the best of friends. They've been friends since they were little - and now - Whitney is getting ready to welcome into the world a little one of her own! Deanna called us to help document this sweet time for both Whitney and for their friendship by doing some photos of the two of them together, but mostly of Whitney's baby bump!

vacation 2010

This year we all rounded up to around Asheville, NC for some family fun in the mountains!

We rented a cabin - where we crocheted, read, hiked, crossword puzzled and built fires to our hearts content!

It was just lovely!

We obviously are a picture taking bunch...Say cheese!

We went waterfall scouting and after hiking for 2 miles (for the second year in a row), we realized that it was a ROCK fall. Where, literally, rocks had fallen from the cliffside. Not finding waterfalls has hysterically become a Reid family tradition! But to make up for it, we stopped at a roadside lookout for this beautiful waterfall....it made up for it.. :)

Grandma did crossword puzzles almost the entire time we were there - stayed up wayyyy past her bedtime looking for those pesky words...

You may remember Grandma's sledding adventures here! Isn't she just the cutest thing?

I still believe that one of the best parts of being married is inheriting the family :).

1. ReadyMade Magazine - An incredible source for DIY furniture upgrades and crafty what-nots! I love when this magazine comes in stock at our local Borders!

2. Ipod Touch - If you know D and I, you know that we are Mac obsessed as of late. I'm sooooo wanting the Ipod touch - I already have a list of all the apps I would get if I could get one today! :) Pitiful really...

3. Etsy: The Twitterpated Toad - I'm in LOVE LOVE LOVE with this print - and I believe that I will have to buy it before the year is out...I'm a sucker for a good print!

4. One Day by David Nicholls - One of the best books I've ever read. It's a beautiful love story but be prepared - it's a tear jerker...

5. Hulu - So this is pretty much the only way I ever watch TV anymore...It's my favorite shows on my own time schedule - perfect huh? It's like DVR except I don't have to pay for it every month - genius no? :)

6. (My Favorite) Pinterest - If you haven't seen this yet, please by all means - go! NOW! - It's an online pin board where you can favorite anything from the internet. Like wedding details, and bedroom sets, and gift ideas. It's not available to the public yet to create your own, but I can tell already its gonna be AMAZING!!!

7. Letterpress cards, like this hilarious one, are kind of an addiction of mine - I just think the simplicity is so lovely! And bonus, it's available on one of my favorite sites - Etsy.com!

8. Fossil is apparently not just watches and purses anymore - they have a new interactive site that boasts creative outlets and great blogs! Just run your mouse over the page to see "What We Are Into"!

9. Another lovely art print that I can't seem to take my eyes off these days, "I will love you forever" - don't you think that would look amazing on my art wall? Someone mention that to Daryl when I'm not around :)...

10. And finally, my love - Pandora. Internet radio at its finest! I love that I can type in my favorite artists and find new music/artists that are similar to what I already like without having to peruse itunes for hours looking for new music...AND IT'S FREE! Bonus!

Mollie and Lan came down last weekend from the grand ole city of Meter, GA to have their engagement session with us - and we had a great time running around with them! Despite parades, and traffic, and the storm that loomed over us through the whole session, we are so happy with the results! Enjoy a sneak peek of their love... :)

Jennifer and Zach got hitched! Jennifer had been working tirelessly on all the little details and Zach had his hands full with designing all their invitations and press printed cards (which were awesome by the way!) We love it when brides make the extra effort to personalize their day!

First up some details...

Those awesome invites I told you about, and one of my favorite ring shots ever!

Jennifer and Zach didn't see each other before the wedding, but as we were switching from bridal portraits to the grooms turn, they took a minute to reach around the front door of the church and have a sweet moment (without seeing each other) but just hearing the others voice helped to calm the nerves I think! And then just a few hours till it's real!

FRESHLY MARRIED! :) I love how genuine and sweet this moment was...

Oh the boots! Zach and Jennifer will be living in Austin, TEXAS now that they are married - so they couldn't forget the western vibe for their wedding day!

Sweetest idea for favors - and yummy too! :) It's nice to have family with talent!

When they left their reception, the guests flew paper airplanes at them as they walked out - awesome idea!

Remember these eyes from a couple of years ago?

Now...she's two! I photographed Madeline last weekend, along with her big brother Jackson, for her two year pictures and boy - did I work for it! :) She's an active two! :) I chased and chased her, but I think it was worth it! :)

Those eyelashes are to die for! Don't you think?

She wasn't very happy for photos this day, but her beautiful eyes and those pouty lips are so perfect any day! :)

You never get anything...unless you ask for it.

Our bride-to-be Mandy had her heart set on a vintage engagement shoot. She had her outfit planned, Rushton's (her fiance) suspenders picked out. All she needed was a vintage car.

Driving down the road here in Augusta, she saw the most beautiful Candy Apple Red 1947 Pontiac. She told her mom, "THAT is exactly the car I want for my pictures." Just a few minutes later, they ended up sitting right next to said beautiful car at a traffic light. Mandy rolls down her window and just asked the guy sitting next to her in traffic if she could use his car for her engagement pictures! To her surprise - he said yes! Lesson learned.

It should be illegal to have such classic beauty :)...

These two are ridiculously cute together. Rushton is such a great guy to have agreed to a themed shoot. A real keeper, right Mandy? :)

the norris family...

Anyone who knows Mr. Tommy would say he is determined. He knows what he wants and he gets it! Mr. Tommy had been trying to get this session going for almost a year now! We scheduled and rescheduled for reasons like: the weather, broken arms, and unfortunately, a missing eyebrow. If every family wanted pictures as bad as this dad, we would be busy non-stop :). He even had props!

We loved it!

We finally got together last weekend for a family session, with Mr. Tommy, his lovely wife - Mrs. Cindy, and their boys - Chandler and Adam. And not to mention, - their (or HIS as everyone else in the family says) goats - Bill and Hillary. :)

Yes. That boar head is real.

and one for grins and giggles :) - I'm not sure if this is Bill or Hillary. Hilarious all the same :).

Take some advice from the Norris Family moms and dads: Don't wait until your kids are older because you think it will be easier to take family pictures then. Life happens and your kids are all of a sudden busier than you! :) Take advantage of THIS time in your family and get some photographs of your family at whatever stage of life they are in!

She Likes Art, He Likes Music. - Vol. 3

D here! Let me begin by acknowledging the folks who have complained that this "weekly feature" of our blog has yet to become "weekly". Yeah, we're sorry about this. It was perhaps too ambitious of us to think that we could post that many music and art finds that would warrant our mention.

So, unless it's just a good couple of weeks, this feature is now monthly. There, fixed it.

Medeski, Martin & Wood is one of my favorite jazz acts! Funky and smooth. Put John Scofield into the mix and things really get good. I'm posting this at the risk of being forever considered a "dirty hippie", since my last post was of hippie-approved Phish. But oh well. Enjoy some jazz people!

Courtney + Brett were married last weekend up at the grounds of Wisteria Hills Plantation. It had been a long time coming for this couple since they've been dating since high school! They are so cute together and were so excited for their day to finally be here... Here's a sneak peak at just a few of moments from the day...

Behind the ceremony spot was a huge butterfly bush, attracting hundreds of butterflies - so we had to get at least one shot for good measure :)...

These image was a part of Courtney + Brett's "first look" - which I adore! First there were tears, then the laughter came as all the nerves were getting out in the open :)

These two are just a perfect pair... I love when people find someone who really makes them a better person... It's such a sweet kind of love...

My cousin Shelby has 4...count 'em 4 boys! Ranging in age from 1 year old to almost 18! Whew! They've got their hands full over there! You may remember them from here...

Before the rain started Sunday, we tried to grab a few family shots for them to remember this time. As it is likely that Holden, and then Jackson (the two oldest) will be off to college in the next couple of years...

Last week, we photographed the beautiful Fuller family out on North Augusta's river front. It was a pretty warm day but we managed to get everyone happy and smiling for a few family photos. This family couldn't be more beautiful together!

Adam and Jessica have two of the most GORGEOUS children! This is Payton...

This next image killed me when I saw it in camera - that drool is soooo sweet! I just love it!

Payton was perfect for taking pictures - he did exactly what we asked and loved it too! He looks so grown up here - it's hard to believe he's only 6!

Grayson had the funniest way of laughing right into an all-out cry - it was hilarious, even though you felt bad for him afterward! Daryl caught this sweet laugh just before Grayson was just about done with pictures for the day!

Our friends ( and practically family) came up over the weekend to hang out with everyone here in Augusta and to indulge in a little family picture time! After a flat tire and a leak that left the family car far from running, we rescheduled and we rescheduled and finally we were able to pull in a little 45 minute session before than hit the road back to Florida!

It's such an important time to be documented in a family's life when its about to grow + 1. It's important to remember what it was like when there were just three :). I hope we can help you cherish this time.

I would be lying if Daryl didn't say more than once, "We can have kids right now if you can be sure to make me one just like Dakota!" He was smitten with her little personality and her curly red hair.

As Dakota proclaimed when I walked in the door, "CUTE BOOTS, huh?!!" She was correct...

When Kandice picked Kota up to sit on her belly, she said, "Sorry Shayne" to her brother for sitting on him - isn't that the cutest thing you've ever heard?

This last one just melts my heart. There's just nothing like a daddy hug :).

I have been in love with tilt shift imagery for a while now. It's a lens that makes everything look like its miniature. Okay let me just get this over with. This edition of HLM is for my buddy Don. (hey Don. i'm watching you. right now.) If you know me at all, you know I'm a big phan of the band Phish - who've been around for forever it seems and should probably quit it soon. But I love them anyway and have probably been influenced by them as a musician more than any other single act. In case you've been under a VW van somewhere and don't know, Phish is an improvisational rock/jazz/whatever quartet who've been together off and on since the 80's. Take a hit of this: all the way back to 1995 in what I consider their best of their many Late Night with David Letterman appearances. The song is called Julius. For a something new here at H+D, we thought we would help our clients get to know us, as a couple, as individuals, and as artists, by introducing you to some of our favorite things...

Our new weekly feature will be called, "She likes Art, He likes Music." Where we let you into our creative little minds and help you as our clients connect with us, since all this internets mombo-jumbo keeps us so far apart! Between all the twitter and facebook updates, it can get hectic trying to "connect" with people, so we thought we would break it down and put it all in one place....making our blog a place where you can get all the dish on who we are! We will be posting things that inspire us, things that move us, and just generally things that we really connect too. We will sometimes post together and sometimes separately, but all under the same banner. So sit back and relax, and enjoy our first installment of:

Last week, when we photographed these two, it was blazing hot. Like "Let's avoid the sun at all costs hot." But these two were troopers! They didn't like the grass but we got them to try it at least for a minute or two!

These is the face every little boy gives at first... We have to really work to get them to smile, but eventually Leyton showed me his real smile so its worth the wait! :)

Last year, when I photographed these girls, Kinsey barely had her front tooth and Ansley was shy and didn't want anything to do with taking pictures until right at the end. This year, it was a whole new ball game! They were running around playing at full speed, but I had a blast chasing after them! :)

#25 and #73! Check and Check!

So if you follow our blog, you know that I am working to complete my 101 in 1001 list! Well - this weekend, I checked off two of those things! First, #73 - To make Jelly from something that I picked myself! Daryl's mom, Sharon, and I went Friday to pick some fresh plums for the yummy jelly that she makes! She's pretty amazing at this kinda stuff so I knew she would be the one to show me the ropes! And here is how it went!

These trees were dripping with beautiful yellow plums! Doesn't it look like an orange tree!?

We cut the plums up and cooked them up according to the recipe...

and then....the cutest JELLY you will see today! :)

We also picked blueberries! (Number #25 on the list!) They were huge and beautiful!

And this is what Scout looks like when she is begging for blueberries. It's pitiful huh?

Caroline - Davidson Fine Arts Senior!

I believe that I am in love with these photos. We had such a blast photographing Caroline downtown that even though it was 104 degrees outside, it actually for ONCE in Augusta, felt cooler! Clouds hung low overhead, threatening rain, but it didn't phase Caroline. She was up for anything! In short - we loved her! We are always wanting clients to step outside of your comfort zone for a minute and just be yourselves. Caroline - you are beautiful, inside and out. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

So - the first accomplishment of my 101 in 1001 list has finally arrived! We now have branded notepads, business cards, and reproduction releases for digital images! Our friends, Lauren and Wade, just brought into the world the most beautiful baby girl, Rosalie Clare. Having only been around for 4 weeks, she is already bright eyed and ready for her close up. She's got a great set of parents (who happen to be quite good friends too!) and so many people who love her already! She's got it made...

These are our crazy friends Mark+Taryn.
